Tata Power takes steps to keep Mumbai lit up this monsoon

Ensures its customers enjoy a safe monsoon

Mumbai: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, has been the pioneer in undertaking safety measures and initiatives to ensure smooth running of its operations for their customers' safety and convenience. Continuing with this tradition, the company has initiated pre-monsoon checks and implemented preventive maintenance of equipments at both distribution sub-stations and consumer sub-stations.

Tata Power has installed adequate number of de-watering pumps at all distribution and consumer sub-stations to avoid flooding. To handle emergencies, vehicles with necessary equipment and dedicated teams are kept on stand-by at strategic locations across the city. Adequate stock of essential spare parts, tools and equipment, including transformers and switchgears, has been ensured to minimise the response time towards power interruptions.

The company also suggests some basic dos and don'ts to their customers in Mumbai to make the season safe and more enjoyable:

Dos

  • Ensure that your building's meter cabin is adequately protected from water logging
  • Get the wiring on your premises thoroughly checked and tested by a licensed electrical contractor
  • Turn off the main switch in case there is water logging or leakage observed in the meter cabin
  • Turn on the main switch only after ensuring that all faults have been rectified properly
  • In case sparks are noticed in meter cabins or any other abnormality is noticed in the sub- station and / or there is an electric shock through any of the electric installations, please contact us on our 24x7 call centre's toll free no. 1800 209 5161

Don'ts

  • Do not touch any installations bare-handed or without using hand gloves, safety shoes or while standing on an insulated platform
  • In case of sparking and / or water leakages, do not touch street light poles, meters in cabin or any such installations
