Jamshedpur: Tata Steel registered hot metal and crude steel production of 2.05
million tonnes and 1.82 million tonnes respectively for Q1 FY’13, higher
by 5.67 percent and 1.67 percent Y-o-Y.

Major highlights – Q1 FY’13
- Best ever hot metal production of 2.05 million tonnes in a quarter (previous
best was 1.96 million tonnes in Q4 FY’12).
- Sales were marginally lower Q-o-Q on account of power outages which impacted
downstream production.
- Performance of recently commissioned plants (I blast furnace, LD #3 and
TSCR) was satisfactory.
Other highlights
- Tata Steel topped the list of India’s 50 most-admired companies in
a survey compiled by Fortune India and global management consultancy Hay Group.
