KRS Jamwal is executive director, Tata Industries. Tata Industries evaluates opportunities for new businesses as well as adjacencies to existing businesses in areas such as energy, materials and services. In this role, he is also responsible for investments made by Tata Industries in startups and new businesses. Mr Jamwal is on the boards of three other Tata companies – Drive India Enterprise Solutions, Tata Advanced Materials and Tata Industrial Services. He is also a member on the board of Flisom AG. His previous assignment was as vice president, strategy, Group Corporate Centre, Tata Sons, where his role was to assist Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Sons, on strategy-related matters concerning Tata companies, and support him on special assignments such as the Investment Commission (2005-2009) and the US-India CEO Forum. He continues to assist Mr Tata on CEO Forum assignments. Mr Jamwal started his career with TAS (formerly known as Tata Administrative Service) in 1989. His initial assignments included project management for setting up new hotels and flight catering units, with subsequent responsibilities relating to strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions for the Taj group of hotels. He has a bachelor's degree in technology in petroleum engineering from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, and was awarded the scholastic gold medal and the best student shield. His post graduation is in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, where he was awarded the gold medal and the KV Srinivas Award for the best all-rounder. |
