DIESL partners with Quantum Sales and Logistics to create an effective service footprint in country for telecom and consumer durables

  • Drive India Enterprise Solutions (DIESL) to provide logistics for Australian after-sales services major in a unique partnership
  • The joint venture aims at bringing down the response time to 72 hours from an industry average of two weeks

Next time you send across your handsets or other consumer durables for servicing, you can hope for a better response time. QSL  (Quantum Sales and Logistics), an Australian company  catering  to after-sales services to  electronics companies like Nokia, Samsung, Dell, HP, Foxtel, which has now set up base in India, is partnering with DIESL, Tata’s logistics venture for operations in India. This partnership plans to bring about a change in the existing service landscape in the country by introducing much better and reliable service timelines. The partnership seeks to bring down the response to 72 hours from the average industry response time of two weeks.  The partnership is underway with the inauguration of the first plant in Mumbai last week.

Says Ajay Chopra, CEO, DIESL, “This is a unique partnership where for the first time in India, a logistics firm is partnering with an after-sales services company with an aim to increase efficiency and turnaround time. Response time is traditionally a problem area for most after-sales companies; we plan to counter the problem with this initiative. The after-sales service industry is valued at Rs10,000 crore, complementing the burgeoning rise and penetration of white goods / electrical goods across India.  As per the Economic Survey 2009-10, consumer durables grew from 5.1 per cent in April to November 2008 to 21.7 per cent in April to November 2009.”

Says Prem Reddy, managing director, QSL Australia, “We are extremely pleased to begin our Indian innings with a Tata group company as our partner. We look forward to leverage DIESL’s logistics expertise to cater to the dynamic, multi-cultural and difficult Indian terrain.”

The initiative plans to enlarge the service footprint riding on DIESL’s infrastructure, which boasts the largest number of warehouses in the country.
